Busy time

Busy Time!

Things have been quite hectic around here lately.  I have been blogging for Chris from Touchmark and also Facebooking (is that a word?) for her.  Then we have had lots of meetings with various people which takes time.  The major occupation has been taking apart some of my jewellery and remaking it.  Some of the items I make I just don’t ‘gel’ with once they are finished – usually those that have been a particular headache to make to be honest – and the price of metals these days makes me want to make sure I get the best I can from what I have.  With this in mind I did set a challenge on the Touchmark blog.  The challenge was to make a piece of jewellery from your scrap pot.  This is quite satisfying and enjoyable to do especially when you end up with a piece of wearable jewellery as the end product.  It is also a very green thing to do!  I made two pendants, one with all scrap both sheet and wire.  The sheet was reticulated and polished and the round wire put through the rolling mill to flatten it.  The second was made from offcuts, one piece reticulated and the other with a matt finish.  To finish this piece I used new tube and Cubic Zirconia.  I like them both, hope you do!

So what now?  I have to finish a Bridal Haircomb I have been making… just these pesky pearls to ream… what a job!  I hope to get that finished this week and then finish a tiara I had dismantled.  I have also been working on a new design… it is wonderful to have something new in the pipeline, can’t wait to get to it!
